One Farm, One Dream, 10 Years Later

June 20, 2026Yip Cider

Yip Cider was born in 1964, when our grandfather, Hugh “Yip” Mackay, first started growing apples here in Long Reach. In 2016, we made things official by incorporating Yip Cider as a commercial cidery. What began in our dad’s garage with a dream of making hard cider commercially has grown into something far bigger than we could have imagined. From the beginning, our goal was simple: to make a dry, crisp cider that we felt was missing from the market, and to share it with people who would appreciate it.

That Original cider is still at the heart of what we do today. It serves as the base for many of the ciders we make, and in 2022, it was named Best in Class for Modern Dry Cider at the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition, one of the most respected cider competitions in the world. For us, it was a reminder that the cider we started with, the one we believed in from the beginning, still has something special to say.

Over the past 10 years, Yip Cider has grown from that small garage operation into the best-selling hard cider in New Brunswick. Along the way, we built a modern cider production facility, planted two new cider apple orchards, and created dozens of new flavours while continuing to build on the Original cider that started it all.

We have also expanded what cider can mean to us through our Vintage Series, which celebrates the apples we grow, the land they come from, and the different styles of cider we love to make. Our Taproom has become a place where people can come enjoy our ciders, take in the view, and be part of what we have been building here in Long Reach.

This 10-Year Anniversary cider is a small batch of 2026 bottles, filled in our original 500 mL stubby bottle and dressed with our original label, now finished with a gold cap, gold outlining, and a special anniversary badge. It is a celebration of where we started, how far we have come, and everyone who has supported us along the way. Thank you for being part of the first 10 years of Yip Cider. We cannot wait to see what the next 10 years and beyond will bring.
